Leaked “Science” Curriculum: Biological Sex Isn’t Binary

Heather Rooks, a newly-elected Arizona school board member, leaked a proposed textbook for the district’s high school science curriculum. One particularly alarming quote from the textbook reads, “The biochemical, physiological, and anatomical features associated with ‘males’ and ‘females’ are turning out to be more complex than previously realized, with many genes involved in their development. We now know that sex is not a binary state, with just two defined outcomes.” Rooks argues that by teaching that biological sex is not solely male or female, it goes against widely accepted scientific understanding and can confuse young students.

An Arizona pro-parent school board member recently sparked controversy by leaking a new science curriculum that includes teaching that biological sex is non-binary.

The newly-elected school board member, Heather Rooks, leaked the proposed textbook, which would be used in the district’s high school. Quotes from the textbook include “We now know that sex is not a binary state…” and “The biochemical, physiological, and anatomical features associated with ‘males’ and ‘females’ are turning out to be more complex than previously realized, with many genes involved in their development. We now know that sex is not a binary state, with just two defined outcomes.”

Rooks exposed the woke ideology being pushed in science classes. She argues that by teaching that biological sex is not solely male or female, it goes against widely accepted scientific understanding and can confuse young students.
